Who's Juny?

WHO IS JUNY?

The name "Juny’s" is a tribute to the man I admired and loved—Jun. Growing up, he opened my eyes to new flavors, art, and music, igniting my own passion for food. He was magnetic, charismatic, and selfless—always making everyone feel welcome, no matter where he went. His belief in me, and his constant encouragement, were the driving forces behind the creation of this bakery. I named it after him as a lasting homage to his vibrant, joyful spirit. Jun was the kind of person who lit up every room, his laughter infectious, his smile genuine. He made friends everywhere he went, always with a kind word or a joke. Much like Jun’s presence at every gathering, we want Juny’s Baked to be a place where warmth fills the air, where everyone feels like family, and where each bite brings people together, leaving them with a satisfied palate and heart.

THE FOUNDER

After college, Ady Lopez, started baking as a way to pass the time. With no formal culinary training, she began experimenting with French macarons. What began as a simple hobby quickly turned into an obsession, as Ady spent countless hours perfecting the delicate cookies. With every batch, her skills improved, and soon, her macarons became the star of every family gathering and event her parents attended.

In 2020, after the loss of someone dear to her, Ady turned her passion for baking into a business. She started catering, offering a menu of cookies, Filipino baked goods like pan de sal and cheese rolls, and her now LA Times-featured chicken bites as well as garlic cream bread. But this was just the beginning of her journey.

While scrolling through social media, Ady discovered the viral spiral croissants. Unable to travel due to COVID and with no local bakery offering these pastries, Ady set out to recreate them herself. The challenge of mastering laminated pastries—the delicate layers of dough and butter—was unlike anything she had ever tried. Yet, this challenge ignited a new passion for baking within her. She fell in love with the precision, patience, and reward of watching each flaky layer come together.

By 2024, Ady’s dream became a reality with the opening of Juny’s Baked first brick-and-mortar featuring supremes, croissants, and other laminated pastries alongside her signature macarons and chicken bites. What started as a hobby turned into an unexpected and rewarding journey, bringing Ady’s passion to life in a way she never imagined.
